Open Branch Function - Introduction
Before commencing banking transactions or operational hours on each day in system, there can be several checkpoints to be run through and reconfirmed.
Some checkpoints, are as follows:-
-
Security Measures: The required standard set of security protocols required by the bank or financial institution for each day’s opening branch has been followed, which include verifying alarm systems, ensuring proper lighting, and checking entry points to the banking hall.
-
Physical Setup: The branch layout, including the placement of teller workstations, customer service desks, and waiting areas, has been carefully organised.
-
Technology Check: Verify that all the necessary technology systems (such as computers, ATMs, and security cameras) are operational before opening the branch to customers for services of the day.
This function can be performed after all the daily 'branch opening' required checkpoints have been met, by allowing the respective authorised user to update the branch commencement status on each day, for banking transaction in system, following the completion of the manually triggered ‘Start-Of-Day’ periodic process.
To facilitate cash transaction, only after this function has been performed in system and that the 'Start-of-Day' periodic process has been completed, that tellers can properly stock cash in their drawer and update into system for any banking transaction instructed by customer.
This function is usually accessible by the respective user who holds the branch administrative function in the bank or financial institution.
