GL Set (General) Maintenance Function - Introduction

General Ledger (also known as GL) is basically a set of numbered accounts used to track financial transactions in the bank or financial institution.

The main purpose of this function is to allow user to maintain the following types of GL codes in the form of scheme by different currencies, to be used in system:-

GL Category Description

Cheque GL

The scheme of GLs that will be used to track various types of cheques' float amount in system.

Clearing Category

The scheme of GLs that will be used to track the completion of system posting the transaction amount to the ultimate GL.

Other GL Currency

The scheme of GLs that will be used to track the various transactions within a currency, or across various currencies in system.

Intermodule GL

The scheme of GLs that will be used to track the transactions that crosses modules in system

  • Before the relevant GL codes (also known as the GL account numbers) can be mapped to the respective system’s GL field, the GL codes must be pre-maintained at the 'Mini Chart of Account Maintenance' function.

  • GL fields refers to system’s internal GL code.
