Mini Chart of Accounts Function - Introduction
A chart of accounts basically refers to an index of financial accounts, that has been maintained for use, usually by the accountants of the respective bank, or financial institution for bookkeeping the transactions performed in its general ledger (GL).
Therefore, prior to any banking transactions in the respective bank or financial institution, the relevant chart of accounts, must be set up.
We refer this function as 'Mini' chart of accounts, because all the GL codes maintained in this function is a subset list of GL codes or accounts of the 'Master' chart of accounts at the General Ledger (GL) system or module, which can be residing within the same banking system, or residing in another banking system.
This 'Mini' chart of accounts basically defined the list of GL codes that will be required to raise the accounting entries for the related banking transactions in the system.
In view of the above, this function simply allows user to maintain a 'subset' of the 'Master' chart of accounts, which will be relevant for use as the GL codes list for selection, during the GL setup for transactions in system.
Some functions that will be using the GL codes maintained in this function, are as follows:-
-
GL Set (Product) Maintenance
-
GL Set (General) Maintenance
